Who we are

NextGem Foundation is a Nigerian orphan advocacy and child welfare organisation registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria (CAC Registration No: RC 9663465). We partner with registered orphanages, government bodies, volunteers, and institutional partners to improve outcomes for orphaned and vulnerable children in Nigeria.

For any question about this policy or about your personal information, contact us at hello@nextgemfoundation.com.

Information we collect

We collect only the information you choose to give us through our website:

  • Donation form: first name, last name, email address, phone number, donation amount, frequency, currency, and reason for donation.
  • Volunteer application: the personal details, skills, and availability you provide in your application.
  • Partnership enquiry form: your name, organisation or company name, email address, phone number, and the details of your enquiry.
  • Orphanage suggestion form: the name, address, and contact details you provide for the orphanage, along with your own contact details.
  • Website usage data: anonymised analytics data such as pages visited, time on site, and device type, collected through Google Analytics.

How we use your information

  • To process and acknowledge donations, and to issue receipts or records of giving.
  • To review and respond to volunteer, partnership, and orphanage submissions.
  • To run our programmes and keep our partners and beneficiaries informed.
  • To improve our website, content, and services.
  • To comply with legal and regulatory obligations in Nigeria.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.

Legal basis for processing

We process your personal information on the basis of your consent (for example, when you submit a form), our legitimate interest in running our charitable programmes and communicating with supporters, and our legal obligations as a registered organisation in Nigeria.

Cookies and analytics

Our website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. This service may place cookies on your device and collect anonymised usage data. You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time; the website remains fully functional without them.

Third-party services

To deliver this website and our services, we work with a small number of trusted service providers:

  • Supabase — securely stores form submissions (donations, volunteer applications, partnership enquiries, orphanage suggestions).
  • Sanity — powers our blog and content management.
  • Sirv — hosts and delivers the images on our website.
  • Google Fonts — serves the fonts used on our website.

Where our online payment processing is integrated, payment details are handled directly by the payment provider under their own security standards; we do not store card details on our systems.

Children's privacy

Our website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Photographs of children in our care are used only with the knowledge and consent of the orphanages and guardians responsible for them, and we respect the dignity of every child we serve.

How we protect your information

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. Access to the data we hold is limited to authorised members of the Foundation.

How long we keep your information

We keep your information only for as long as needed for the purpose it was collected — for example, to maintain accurate records of donations and programme participation — or as required by law. After that, it is securely deleted or anonymised.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Ask us to delete your information, subject to legal obligations.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your information.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@nextgemfoundation.com. We will respond within a reasonable time.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and post the updated policy on this page.
