The Orphanage Games was born from the simple belief that children in Nigerian orphanages are talented, energetic, and full of potential, but their abilities often go unseen. Many lack access to the platforms, networks, and opportunities that help young talent grow.
The NextGEM Foundation created the Orphanage Games in 2025 to change that. By bringing children onto a stage where they can race, compete, dance, and perform before sponsors, government representatives, media organisations, and the wider public, the Games transform hidden potential into visible talent.
A child who wins a race before a corporate sponsor is no longer just another child in an orphanage; they are a young athlete with promise. A child who performs on stage before the media has a story and talent that can be recognised and supported.
The Orphanage Games creates the visibility, connections, and opportunities needed for that talent to be discovered, nurtured, and invested in.
